As the associate AV technician at Pearl Technology, Mateo Beeney helps ensure jobs run smoothly through preparation before the job even begins. He works as part of the audiovisual solutions team to help manage the team of technicians and ensure client installations are completed on time.
How He Serves
Working from Pearl Technology’s headquarters in Peoria Heights, Mateo coordinates everything for a job. He ensures the materials and tools are ready for each installation and everything is organized for the team. Mateo also works to keep everything on schedule by coordinating with clients, vendors, and the team.
“The majority of my time is spent with the client,” Mateo said. “I make sure what we have planned is what they want and need, and then I do what I can to make sure the client’s needs are met. It’s my goal to be sure they are happy with the results. I work on client sites with the team to make sure the project is going smoothly and the team has everything they need for a successful installation.”
What His Experience Means
Before joining the staff at Pearl Technology in 2023, Mateo helped provide recommendations for customers’ home theaters. His prior experience helped him with a basic knowledge to work in the AV industry, which led him to commercial audiovisual solutions.
“Much of my training has been on the job,” Mateo explained. “I have learned a lot from the team and from AVIXA, taking courses to ensure I understand every aspect of my position so I can help our clients more. Since joining the team at Pearl Tech, I have learned a lot about project management and AV. I have learned from the others’ expertise.”
Mateo earned his certification as a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) through AVIXA in April. This training helps him perform all general audiovisual tasks—creating, implementing, supporting, and servicing the AV solutions that meet clients’ needs.
“I really enjoy the travel I get to do in my position,” Mateo said. “I’m getting to see many places I’ve never seen before. There are many things I love about my role at Pearl Technology, including the flexible work environment, the freedom to manage my schedule, and the opportunities to collaborate with the team.”
Mateo is always looking for ways to improve processes and do things more efficiently. He enjoys collaborating with the team to grow in his position and role. He believes Pearl Technology is continuing to grow in technology expertise, which will lead to more complex jobs in the future.
“I’m excited about the future possibilities,” he said. “I look forward to seeing how Pearl Technology continues to do more than other companies and grows in expertise. There will be things we can do for clients that other companies will not be able to do. And I’m looking forward to growing in my role to meet the expanding needs of our clients.”
One of Mateo’s favorite jobs was helping to coordinate the speaker upgrade at Peoria’s Riverfront Museum. “We helped to complete their job in a short timeframe and provided creative rigging with the help of the team. They were very heavy speakers to put in place!”
What Sustains Him
Mateo lives in Peoria Heights, Illinois, with his partner, Kailly, and his dog, Ivy. He says coffee and running help keep him going through the day. He has already run a half marathon and is working up to running a full one.
In his spare time, Mateo loves spending time outdoors, running, skiing, and cycling.
