Pearl Technology is proud of Pat Venditte’s recent time on the mound for the Savannah Bananas. Pat Venditte, a name synonymous with versatility in baseball, has carved a niche for himself as one of the most unique players in the sport’s history. Known for his rare ability to pitch with both arms, Venditte’s ambidextrous skills not only set him apart but also led to the creation of a special rule in Major League Baseball, aptly named the “Pat Venditte Rule.” This rule requires ambidextrous pitchers to declare which hand they will use to pitch to a batter before the at-bat starts, ensuring fair play and strategy.
Pat pitched professionally for 12 years. including five seasons in Major League Baseball for the Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Miami Marlins. Pat’s MLB career ended in 2020 at which point he joined the team here at Pearl Technology.
In October 2024, Venditte was invited along with several former Marlins to join the Savannah Bananas for a game at Marlins Park in Miami. The Bananas are a team renowned for their innovative approach to baseball and entertainment. Based in Savannah, the team and owner Jesse Cole have redefined the fan experience with their unique brand of “Banana Ball,” a fast-paced and entertaining version of the game. The team is known for its choreographed dances, kilts, over-the-top celebrations, and maximum fan inclusion, making every game a memorable event.
Pat faced two hitters, constantly switching from his left and right arms. The first batter struck out swinging and the second grounded into a double trick play to star second baseman Jackson Olson. While Pat may join them again from time to time, he is back doing what he enjoys most, serving the customers of Pearl Technology.
