As purchasing coordinator at Pearl Technology, Jeri Rogers helps ensure daily administration functions without a hitch. Jeri is part of our audiovisual solutions team and works to obtain the best products at the best prices she can negotiate.
How She Serves
Jeri works out of Pearl Tech’s headquarters in Peoria Heights, IL. She joined the team in 2021 when Integrated Audio Systems (IAS Technology) was acquired. Jeri brings more than 26 years of experience to her position.
In her role, Jeri has a variety of responsibilities. “I order all the audiovisual (AV) equipment for our jobs, receive shipments when they come in, enter bills for vendors, invoice clients, and more.” She added that each day is different… perhaps answering calls, helping the warehouse staff, or creating labels for shipping equipment.
“There are so many facets to my job,” Jeri explained. “It’s rewarding and challenging in the same day.”
Her favorite part is the people though. Jeri believes that doing her job effectively is an important way she can contribute to Pearl Tech’s growth.
“AV is growing nationwide, and quality is always my number one priority. I think that remembering who our customers are… knowing them and what they need helps to make them feel at ease. It’s the personal recognition that helps them realize how important they are—more than just customers.”
What Her Experience Means
While at IAS Technology, Jeri served as office manager, bookkeeper, shipping clerk, accounts receivable and accounts payable manager… so she was prepared for the diversity of her position with Pearl Tech.
“Though I didn’t have a lot of specialized training,” Jeri continued, “I did have many years of first-hand experience on the job. I took a semester of accounting and taught myself how to use Quick Books, but that’s about it. Nevertheless, growing up as the fourth of five children in a military family, on a military income, taught me to fight for better pricing whenever I could. Helping the company and our customers save money on equipment purchases is one more way I can make a difference.”
What Sustains Her
Jeri lives with her husband, John, in Pekin, Illinois. The two have been married 33 years and moved to the area in 1993 after her husband retired from the Air Force (24 years of active duty). The two have a fur “baby,” Eva—a 12-year-old Collie/Australian Shepherd. And, about 14 years ago, her younger sister came to live with them. Since her sister is mobility challenged, Jeri serves as her caretaker.
Jeri’s motto? “Never give up… but chocolate helps!” And she has a secret. Though Jeri may seem gruff on the outside, she’s a softie on the inside.
Jeri loves spending her free time on church related activities, singing, and selling Tastefully Simple as a consultant. “I love their products—they’re easy to prepare, and they taste YUM.”
