When one of your speakers tells you, “This is the best cybersecurity event I attend throughout the year,” you pay attention.
For Pearl Technology, that comment captured exactly what we hoped to create with the 2026 Central Illinois Cyber & AV Technology Showcase: an event where people could learn something useful, see technology firsthand, connect with experts and peers, and leave with ideas they could actually take back to their organizations.
On September 28, Pearl Technology welcomed business leaders, technology professionals, students, customers, partners, vendors, and members of the Central Illinois community to the Peoria Riverfront Museum for an afternoon focused on cybersecurity, audiovisual technology, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and the technologies changing how organizations work, communicate, and protect themselves.
The technology was impressive.
The conversations were even better.
That sentiment was reflected throughout this year’s post-event feedback and social coverage, which emphasized not only the technology on display, but the learning, relationships, and conversations attendees took away from the event.
A Technology Event Built Around Practical Value
Technology conferences can sometimes become an exercise in showing people more technology.
We wanted this event to do something different.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees had opportunities to hear from industry experts, see technologies in action, talk directly with manufacturers and solution providers, and ask questions based on challenges they are actually experiencing inside their organizations.
The goal was never simply to show people what is new.
It was to help them understand what matters, why it matters, and where it could fit inside their business.
Cybersecurity threats continue to evolve.
Artificial intelligence is changing how organizations operate.
Collaboration technologies are redefining the workplace.
Infrastructure is becoming increasingly connected.
And the traditional lines separating IT, cybersecurity, audiovisual technology, and business operations continue to disappear.
Bringing all of those conversations together gives business and technology leaders an opportunity to look at the bigger picture rather than evaluate each technology in isolation.
Cybersecurity Without the Sales Pitch
Central Illinois Cyber has continued to grow into an important gathering for cybersecurity professionals, business leaders, technology teams, and students throughout the region.
The event is designed around practical education and real-world conversations—not simply vendor presentations or product pitches.
That philosophy has been part of CIC for years. Previous events have brought together cybersecurity professionals, government agencies, industry practitioners, and educators to discuss subjects ranging from cyber risk and compliance to threat intelligence, security operations, and the human side of cybersecurity.
This year continued that tradition while addressing issues organizations are facing right now.
Cybersecurity is no longer simply an IT problem.
It touches leadership, operations, finance, employees, customers, reputation, and increasingly every connected technology inside an organization.
Artificial intelligence is adding another layer to that conversation—creating tremendous opportunities for businesses while simultaneously introducing new security, privacy, governance and fraud risks.
Those are exactly the types of conversations CIC is intended to create.
Which is why hearing one of our speakers say:
“This is the best cybersecurity event I attend throughout the year.” meant so much to our team.
There are much larger cybersecurity conferences.
There are events in much larger cities.
But our goal with Central Illinois Cyber has never been to create the biggest cybersecurity conference.
Our goal is to create one of the most useful.
Seeing Technology in Action
The AV Technology Showcase provides another important part of the experience: the ability to actually interact with technology.
Modern audiovisual environments extend far beyond projectors and conference room displays.
Today’s organizations rely on connected collaboration environments, digital signage, video walls, advanced audio systems, conferencing platforms, and increasingly intelligent workplace technologies.
Previous showcases have featured technologies spanning conferencing, video walls, digital signage, audio and video displays, collaboration platforms, and Pearl Technology’s broader cybersecurity, IT, and data center capabilities.
Being able to see those technologies firsthand changes the conversation.
It is one thing to read a specification sheet.
It is another to stand in front of the technology, see how it performs, and have a conversation with someone who understands how it could be deployed inside your environment.
Technology Is Becoming More Connected
Combining Central Illinois Cyber with the AV Technology Showcase is intentional.
The conference room is connected.
The display is connected.
The collaboration platform is connected.
Artificial intelligence is interacting with organizational data.
Employees are connecting from everywhere.
And nearly every new technology introduces considerations around networking, data, cybersecurity, user experience, and management.
Organizations can no longer afford to think about these systems in completely separate silos.
Technology has become an ecosystem.
That makes conversations between cybersecurity professionals, IT leaders, audiovisual specialists, manufacturers, business leaders, and technology partners increasingly important.
One conversation may begin with improving a conference room and end with a discussion about network architecture.
Another may begin with artificial intelligence and quickly become a conversation about data governance and cybersecurity.
That intersection is exactly where technology decisions are increasingly being made.
The Best Part of the Day Was the People
With all of the technology throughout the Peoria Riverfront Museum, the part of this year’s event we will probably remember most had very little to do with equipment.
It was the people.
Customers reconnecting.
New introductions being made.
Students talking with experienced technology professionals.
Vendors sharing ideas.
Business leaders comparing challenges.
Friends catching up.
And our Pearl Technology team taking time to celebrate Jeri and her retirement.
Those moments captured exactly what we want this event to create: a place where the Central Illinois technology community can come together, learn something useful, build relationships, and enjoy the day.
Because some of the most valuable conversations at a technology conference do not happen from a stage.
They happen when someone says: “We are dealing with that too.”
And someone else responds: “Here’s what worked for us.”
That exchange of experience strengthens the entire technology community.
Connecting the Next Generation of Technology Professionals
Another important part of the event is creating opportunities for students and emerging professionals to interact with people already working throughout the technology industry.
That means exposure not only to technology but also to the people and careers behind it.
Students can meet cybersecurity professionals, engineers, technology leaders, manufacturers, and solution providers.
They can ask questions.
They can see technology operating outside of a classroom.
And they can begin building relationships within the industry they may soon enter.
Our post-event recap captured those interactions as one of the defining parts of the day—students talking with industry professionals alongside customers, vendors, and technology leaders from across the community.
For an industry constantly talking about the need to develop the next generation of technology talent, those opportunities matter.
Thank You to the Community That Makes It Possible
An event like the Central Illinois Cyber & AV Technology Showcase does not happen because of one company.
It happens because an entire community participates.
Thank you to our speakers for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.
Thank you to our vendors and sponsors whose support helps us bring technology and expertise together while making the event available to attendees.
Thank you to the Peoria Riverfront Museum for once again providing an incredible setting for the day.
Thank you to every Pearl Technology team member who spent months planning, coordinating, and working behind the scenes to make the event possible.
And most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended.
Business leaders.
IT and cybersecurity professionals.
Students.
Customers.
Partners.
Technology professionals.
Friends.
You are the reason this event continues to grow.
Our 2026 post-event campaign probably summed it up best: We are proud of what this event has become and even more grateful for the Central Illinois technology community that continues to show up, learn, connect, and support one another.
Looking Ahead
Technology will continue to change.
Cyber threats will continue to evolve.
Artificial intelligence will create new opportunities—and new questions.
The way organizations collaborate, communicate, manage data, and protect themselves will look different again next year.
That is exactly why we will keep bringing people together.
To learn.
To ask questions.
To challenge ideas.
To share experiences.
To see what is next.
And to strengthen the technology community here in Central Illinois.
We are incredibly proud of what the 2026 Central Illinois Cyber & AV Technology Showcase became this year.
And if one of the best compliments we can receive is that it is “the best cybersecurity event I attend throughout the year,” then we have set a pretty high bar for ourselves next year.
Challenge accepted.
