Mark Ripley—Delivering High-Quality Custom AV Control Systems to Clients

As the Senior AV Control System Developer at Pearl Technology, Mark Ripley focuses on designing, programming, and integrating complex audiovisual control systems. He works directly with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions for their audiovisual integration needs.

How He Serves

Mark works remotely from his home in Jim Thorpe, PA. “My home office provides the flexibility to manage my workload efficiently while maintaining strong communications with the team at Pearl Technology. “

Collaborating with the team and clients to assess project requirements and ensure everything is on track, Mark spends a lot of time coding and developing system designs. He also spends time troubleshooting issues in both hardware and software components.

As a developer, Mark performs detailed code reviews to ensure projects meet quality standards and best practices. He also assists with testing, deployment, and system maintenance, ensuring all the components function seamlessly together.

What His Experience Means

Before joining the team at Pearl Technology in October, Mark spent 24 years as a manager of software and development. During that time, he served as a control systems programmer who led teams in developing AV control systems for many different applications, including medical-grade systems.

“I have successfully managed development teams to create client-specific applications using a variety of software languages outside the AV industry. These applications were strategically designed to interface seamlessly with AV components, ensuring robust communication and integration between systems.”

Mark has multiple certifications, including Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP), Crestron Silver Certification, AMX Certified Expert (ACE), Extron Control Professional (ECP), and AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). He’s also certified in Utelogy, which adds to his expertise in AV systems and control solutions. His technical foundation includes two years of computer science at Lehigh Valley College, where he developed a strong understanding of programming and system design that’s been instrumental to his career. Mark is currently working to finish his QSYS and Creston Gold certifications.

“These certifications, along with my extensive experience, have been crucial in ensuring that I design, implement, and troubleshoot sophisticated AV systems with a high degree of precision and reliability,” Mark said. “My experience in software development and AV control systems allows me to tackle complex problems and deliver solutions that align with client needs.”

Mark’s technical understanding and practical expertise also help ensure Pearl Tech’s systems are robust and scalable. His background also helps him identify areas for process optimization and continuous improvement.

“What I love most about my job is the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AV technology while solving complex, real-world problems. Working remotely has been a huge bonus. It allows me to maintain flexibility and focus while staying connected to the team. I also appreciate the collaborative culture with talented colleagues who share my passion for delivering exceptional AV solutions.”

Mark believes his experience can help support Pearl Tech’s expansion into new markets and technologies, helping to build solutions that increase as the company grows.

“What truly sets us apart in the AV technology space is our unique integration of managed services provider (MSP) bridge technology with high-quality solutions. This combination positions Pearl Tech to lead in delivering seamless, reliable systems that meet clients’ evolving needs. I’m confident Pearl Tech will remain at the forefront of AV integration and smart technology, and we will continue to innovate and expand into emerging technologies, such as AI-driven automation, advancements in cloud-based AV solutions, and growth into global commercial markets.”

What Sustains Him

Mark and his wife live on a mountain above Jim Thorpe, a town nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. They have two adult daughters and three beloved greyhounds (Dottie, Gilbert, and Millie).

“One daughter served in the Army and now volunteers as a firefighter, and the other works in the AV industry, proudly representing the growing number of women in the field. She’s also the lead singer of a very successful band called Project 9. I’m equally fortunate to have a delightful little grandson, who brings so much joy, and I cherish our time together.”

Deeply passionate about the AV industry, Mark believes there’s something rewarding about being part of a field that constantly pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. “The challenge of solving complex technical problems, paired with the thrill of seeing a project come to life, is what fuels my motivation. I find joy in the process, whether it’s designing a seamless system or troubleshooting a tricky issue. Every day presents a new opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to my development and the team’s success.”

Mark lives by the motto, “Collaborate. Innovate. Succeed.” For him, it’s all about the power of teamwork. “When we bring our diverse strengths together, we can tackle even the toughest challenges. By embracing new ideas and staying open to innovation, we can push the boundaries. Ultimately, it’s about driving success for the company, clients, teams, and industry. By working together, staying creative, and keeping our focus on results, we can achieve great things and keep moving the needle forward.”

A man of many talents and interests, Mark has many hobbies. A 1st degree Black Belt in Okinawan Goju Ryu, Mark is deeply passionate about martial arts. He’s also an avid amateur radio enthusiast who is licensed as a General Amateur Radio Operator (KC3RIP) and enjoys staying connected with fellow operators. And if that’s not enough, he’s a volunteer firefighter who serves as Captain… and was formerly the president of the fire company.

Of course, Mark loves spending time with his wife, exploring the great outdoors, and camping with their greyhounds whenever possible. He loves music and works as a lighting designer for local concert venues, too. (When do you sleep, Mark?)

“I’m truly passionate about both my professional work and personal growth,” Mark added. “I believe success isn’t just about what you achieve for yourself but also about the positive impact made on others. Whether it’s through my volunteer work or by staying active in industry events and professional organizations, engaging with others and sharing knowledge is incredibly rewarding. I strive to refine my approach and provide innovative, sustainable solutions. For me, it’s about contributing to something bigger than myself.”
